And what prompted this "slide?" That would be Bush lifting the executive ban on drilling. Can you imagine what would happen if Congress gets off their ass and lifts the congressional ban and other red-tape restrictions?

Actually it has been over two months. And the average price in California during that time has dropped approx. 66 cents. We still have a long way to go.

Best way to beat the high price is to conserve. I used to fill up both of my vehicles once a week. I have been using mass transit for the past 2 months; I have one of my vehicles I have not filled up since Aug 2nd. The other is now filled about every other week. I know not everyone has that option, but for those that do I highly recommend it.

Prices have been stable here all week at our 25c above the national average (thanks Chris Gregoire). I expect a couple of cents rise over the weekend, and then a couple of cents fall over the following weeks.

Gas isn't going back under $3.00 a gallon. Might as well get used to it.

two stations near my house actually raised their price 10 cents in one day. I think they did this because stations less than a mile away had not reduced their price, so why should they????????

With hurricane Gustav moving into the Gulf, you'll see an increase in crude, based on the speculation that the supply will be cut as the hurricane goes through, even though there will be no lasting destruction or oil loss. That will probably cause gas to increase, especially as this is a holiday weekend.

So $3.00 is still a ways off, and $2.00 gas is probably going to be a tale you tell your grandkids.

Depends on when the underlying data was collected. Locally it still seems to be trending down, $3.51 today. But I anticipate that can change with the unsettled forecast for Gulf production.

Keep up the pressure on Washington...Don't let your representatives get away with doing nothing.

It is amazing how the news media speaks with such a 'forked tongue' - Last evening's news gave us reports about the spike in prices on account of Hurricaine Gustav - and how it might compromise rigs in the gulf. Now this article speaks of how much prices have fallen. Do they really want to confuse us? All this to say that every person should do their own homework - read and learn what's up - never rely on one source of news and information. The worst thing any of us can do be ignorant to the issues out there. As we move toward the general election, an informed electorate is better able to make the best choice about who should be our next president. The news media will not do our work for us - we have to keep doing our homework and stay informed. This article and many like it should remind us of that!

AAA better get their information corrected. Price's went up on 8/27/08---and more than just 1 or 2 cents, more like .20 to .25.
